The 2010 Hypermotard 1100 EVO takes the award-winning innovation of the charismatic hybrid to a new level. The Hypermotard's iconic design mates the agility and lightweight precision of a supermotard with the refinement of an Italian sportbike. Pure riding pleasure meets practicality and versatility, with a commanding upright riding position that enables you to explore riding techniques unaccessible on other sportbikes. Aggressive styling, lightweight minimalism, sure-footed handling at every speed and smooth power delivery throughout the range – the Hypermotard really is the best of both worlds.
For 2010, the Desmodue Evoluzione engine builds on more than 30 years of development with cutting-edge refinements that allow new heights of performance and efficiency. Overall power has been boosted to a peak output of 95hp @ 7,500rpm, and 76lb-ft of torque @ 5,750rpm. The new bike is both lighter and more powerful, thanks to a variety of innovations. The new crankshaft assembly incorporates the lighter flywheel from the 848 Superbike, and crankcases are vacuum-cast with Vacural® technology for increased strength and significant weight savings. A new Siemens ECU works with single spark per cylinder ignition in redesigned cylinder heads whose improved inlet port and combustion chamber shapes allow a higher compression ratio and improved efficiency. More premium details, including the use of lightweight rare-earth magnets in the alternator assembly and a new magnesium alternator cover, reduce overall weight by 11.7lb/5.3kg).
To channel all this power to the road are a pair of lightweight aluminum Enkei 5-spoke wheels, framing the powerful, responsive Brembo brakes. Up front, radially mounted 4-piston calipers grip twin 305mm semi-floating discs, and the rear wheel is highlighted by the eye-catching signature design of a single-sided swingarm. A fully adjustable ZF Sachs rear shock balances the 50mm Marzocchi forks up front; held by triple-screw clamps and featuring spring pre-load, compression and rebound adjustability, they also use special high-rigidity stainless steel sliders that perform as impressively as they look.
The smooth, capable engine is cradled in Ducati's unique Trellis frame, which boasts an improved layout that replaces almost all of the previously forged elements with precision machined components for lighter weight without the loss of torsional strength. This taut chassis is the skeleton of a distinctive face, framed by the folding mirrors and handguards that incorporate high intensity LED turn indicators, and the Hypermotard's single piece nose fairing that houses a very compact headlight. A strip of high-diffusion, variable intensity LEDs line the tailpiece in a unique moulding high behind the seat.
From the full-length seat—which lets you easily slide weight fore or aft for extreme riding—the view ahead is expansive and commanding, with tapered section handlebars that stretch wide for effortlessly flickable control. Slim switch bodies house the latest gear introduced on the Streetfighter, with a unique trigger catch and easily accessed buttons. The clean, data rich display is white back-lit and includes all the indicators one could need, including a built-in lap tracking stopwatch. It's built system-ready for the Ducati Data Analyzer kit, which adds custom software and a memory key for detailed records of your performance. Service intervals have been expanded to 7,500 miles/12,000km thanks to Ducati's constant investment in quality by design and the advanced materials and engineering techniques which make this the finest Hypermotard yet.
