After the catastrophic fires in Colorado, Pikes Peak was rescheduled to August 12th.
The 90th annual race up Pikes Peak will run Aug. 12, the board of the nation’s second-oldest motor sports race announced Tuesday.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which draws competitors from around the globe, was originally scheduled to run July 8. The board was initially optimistic that the race would run on time in the first days of the Waldo Canyon fire, but postponed the race Wednesday due to race-day safety concerns.
The same full race-week schedule is planned, with the annual Fan Fest in downtown Colorado Springs planned for Aug. 10, and the technical inspection, practice runs and media day taking place in days leading up to the race.
