RIDER SAFETY GEAR REQUIREMENTS
- NEW THIS YEAR: Helmets must be full-face style with a full-coverage faceshield, minimum Snell 2020 or ECE 22.06 (ECE 22.05 acceptable with a date stamp of 2020 or newer), and no visible signs of damage.
- Flip-up "modular" helmets or those incorporating internal sun shields are not permitted.
- All riders must wear one-piece or two-piece leather suits that zip together at least 3/4 of the way around, with armor at the knees, hips, elbows, and shoulders.
- One-piece or two-piece textile suits that zip together 3/4 of the way around are allowed in C Group only, and must include armor at the knees, hips, elbows, and shoulders. No mesh suits whatsoever!
- Full-length, hard-shelled back protectors are required. Non-full-length, hard-shelled back protectors such as those inserted into jackets will be permitted in C Group only.
- Riders with airbag suits can use the built-in back protector that came with it; you do not need to add a supplemental full-length back protector.
- Full-coverage, armored boots are required, and must substantially overlap the pant legs. No "shorty" ankle-high boots.
- Full-coverage, armored, gauntlet-style gloves with wrist straps are required. No "shorty" wrist-length or fingerless gloves.
- Action cameras (GoPro and the like) cannot be mounted on your helmet or body for safety reasons. Motorcycle mounts are acceptable but must be secure.
- Allie in our Apparel Department can answer any questions about gear, and also has helmets, suits, boots, gloves, and back protectors available for rent.
MOTORCYCLE REQUIREMENTS
- Motorcycle must be in good mechanical condition with no fluid leaks.
- Brakes should have a minimum of 50% pad thickness remaining and chain/sprockets should be in good condition.
- Tires must have a minimum of 75% tread depth and be fully inflated. See attending tire vendor for recommended inflation pressures.
- Headlight, taillight, turn signals, and reflectors must be taped over if retained on the motorcycle. We find blue painter's tape works best.
- Mirrors and license plate must be removed.
- Running distilled water instead of coolant in radiators is recommended, but not required.
- Safety wire on all fluid-retaining fasteners and brake caliper bolts is likewise recommended, but not required.
- Show up with a full tank of gas as none is available at the track. There is a gas station close to PIR, but the nearest one to The Ridge is a few miles away.
- Mike in our Service Department is available for free pre-event safety inspections if you are concerned your motorcycle might not pass tech.
